update!

friday, february 15th: around 5 o'clock, huong and i went to dinner at a restaurant called mangia bene in laguna niguel in light of the "romantic holiday" the day before. great food, great company, great memories, what more could i ask for? i know what i could ask for... i took her to balboa island to walk around and, in a sense, "celebrate" that today was 2 months since we (finally) met. we walked up onto the pier where i had previously asked marie to set up candles spelling, "will you be my girlfriend" in the sand below the pier. huong saw it, she smiled, i smiled... she said yes. SHAAZAAMM!!! i then and there officially became the happiest guy alive, not like i wasn't already, but even happier than before. huong is officially my girlfriend! huong, marie, lisa, and i hung out on the beach for a little with jose (hahaha jose... basically a random, drunk guy making the night unique), took some pictures and then we went to keans for coffee. afterwards koh and joh came over to huong's house and we chilled there for a bit. then huong and i crashed around 4, and woke up at 5 to go snowboarding. darn coffee...

saturday, february 16th: snowboarding! huong and her uncle jack took me snowboarding for the first time and i loved it! it was soo much fun! i can't wait until next season when i have my own gear!

This is a little late, but I had to post this…

Friday, February 1st was La Quinta’s winter formal. I woke up early for some odd reason. So I got up and started to run errands around 9-ish. I stopped by Huong's house, picked up some Juice it Up! and walked around Staples and BevMo to kill some time. I headed home and washed my car so it was presentable for the occasion. While washing my car Koh arrived at my house and we just chilled until one or so and we went to get lunch at Arby’s. The time came to get ready and pick up the girls from Huong’s house. Koh and I picked up the girls around 4:30, left for our 5:00 appointment at Imagix to take our pictures, and went to dinner at Flemings at 6:45. Dinner, by the way, was amazing. Koh, Yuki, and I ordered the 16 oz rib-eye and Huong ordered the Flemington fillet. We got sweet and sour calamari, sautéed mushrooms, shrimp cocktail, and Fleming’s loaded baked potato. Like I said, dinner was amazing! After dinner we went to Keans coffee to snap out of our food comma. After Keans, we went to the dance. We got there around 10:00. not to late, but not too early either. We had a blast. The valet guy sucked. He was freakin asking for a tip! Afterwards we headed over to Huong’s to spend the night. Koh, Huong, and I didn’t go to sleep until 6:30 in the morning. Enough to say good-bye to Huong’s mom at 4:30 and to sit, chill, and talk.

Very on the surface recap of the night, but don’t get me wrong, that night was amazing. Everything from dancing with Huong, getting Koh to dance, talking with the closest people in my life,  and spending the night at Huong's house, to avoiding the karaoke machine and getting frustrated with the vallet guy getting my car and listening to my music... I had an awesome time. There's not a moment I would trade.

Thank you guys for making formal awesome! Thank you Huong for being such an awesome date!

today was my 20th birthday! it quite honestly was the best birthday of my life. unlike most years where i just stay at home, spend time with one or two friends, and go out to dinner with family, this year i was able to spend my birthday with most of my closest and dearest friends. on top of that, i was able to share my birthday with a very dear person in my life, huong (aka jennifer). although, as of today, we have only officially known each other for a month, she has already left an everlasting imprint in my life. i am truly grateful God has blessed me with her in my life.

around 11 o'clock, i made my way over to huong's house for her birthday party with her friends and family. i was able to meet extra members of her family and some of her close friends. we got to hit each other with padded poles which resemble the old school tv show american gladiators, play video games on wii and playstation 2, eat lots of food and an insane, chocolate cake from claim jumpers, gamble, open presents, we were even able to send huong's mom off on her date with her new boyfriend. although i'm not part of huong's family, her family welcomes and treats me as if i were a member of their family. they even went so far as to buy huong and i scratchers and gift certificates for our birthday. in such a short time, they have already become a second family to me, and i am truly grateful for everything they have done for me. afterwards we made our way over to my house where we had a much smaller birthday celebration with only close friends and my parents. a time of hilarious conversation, eating, games, and kevin getting his eyebrows plucked. haha

quite simply, this was the best birthday of the 20 years i have been on this earth. thank you guys who made my birthday awesome! and also thank you God for blessing me for such an awesome day! it is my prayer that you continue to bless my friends and family, and bless this new year of our lives.

my 9-11

six years ago, the united states witnessed one of the most terrible events in history. terrorists attacked united state's soil killing thousands of people.

my 9-11 is more than just a date in united states history books. to me, it was the day my grandfather died (no he wasn't in the world trade center if thats what you were wondering). my grandfather died early in the morning before the attack on the world trade center. i was woken up around 5:30am by a phone call from my parents saying my grandfather had died. in a flash, i remember everything from when i used to spend my summers at my grandparent's house in los angeles, to the times where my grandfather would cook me pastrami, eggs and rice for breakfast, to the times they came over and visited, to the moment they accepted Jesus Christ into their lives in the living room of my house. all my memories up to that moment raced through my head. although i still feel the pain from his death six years ago, i rest assured in knowing that he is with God in Heaven right now, and that one day i will see him again, without the cancer, without diabetes, but perfect.

i just wanted to say i miss you grandpa and i can't wait to see you again

There are times where we feel alone or depressed because all we have on this earth is perishing. Our friends, our relationships, our possessions, they will all perish one day. We have to come to the realization that in the end once everything has passed away, Christ remains. So in the end, all we need is You God
